First Dentist Visit

Well Keelii had her very first dentist visit today. We got her front tooth checked out and the dentist said it will survive and wants to cap it with a white cap so thats the next step. We go in November 16th at 6:00 AM! Holy cow that is early!

Here is my baby getting ready for xrays! She did so good! I was very impressed and surprised that she wasn't scared and was so excited.

Here we are waiting for the dentist to come look at her. She thought that chair was really cool and loved the dentist's assistant.

Getting her exam done! All is well with her front tooth! Yay! She did so good while he was looking at her. She just laid there and listened to what he had to say.

All done! She was pretty excited that she got to pick out a prize for being so good.

I'm so proud of you Keelii! You did amazing! Way to go sweet pea!

Mini pizza's

We decided to make mini pizza's for dinner tonight. It was so much fun to get the girls involved and give them a chance to make their own dinner. Keelii thought it was one of the coolest things ever and Aidyn, well she just ate all the toppings out of the bowls.

All ready for the pizza's to go into the oven
Poor girl was trying so hard to be in a good mood. She is battling a nasty case of allergies and had just woke up for her nap. She is not in the mood for anything or anyone.
Here is her master piece ready to be consumed. Most of the toppings melted off and they didn't look very appetizing but they did taste good. Keelii did a perfect job and we all had a good time together.

Now we just need to get her feeling better. I think a nice bath and some comfy jammies will do. Maybe we'll order a movie and snuggle up on the couch. I think that sounds like a perfect night.

Scraped knee turns bad

My poor little girl fell down a couple weeks ago and scraped her knee. Nothing new for her. She is a klutzy toddler. Like every other scraped knee she's ever had it started to heal and started to scab but just like I mentioned before she is a klutzy toddler and couldn't quit breaking it open. As a result she ended up with a nasty infected knee. After trying to doctor it up myself for a week with out it getting better I decided to take her into a real doctor. Once he came in and took a look he decided that we needed to clean it out and get her felling better.

He put some lidocaine gel on her and wrapped it up.

We waited...

 Checked it out...

 Ran a muck...
Then it was time to start cleaning it out. The nurse came in and got the water and syringe ready and went to work. She was really good and sat through the whole thing like a big girl.

This was the best picture I could get of her knee before we started cleaning it out. Started looking a bit better after it had the lidocaine on it and softened it up. You can't see where it is open in the picture but you can see the infected area.
We got it all washed out and bandaged up and came back home. She hasn't said owie since we've been home! Good sign! So happy she is feeling better and not hurting anymore. It's never fun knowing your babies are in pain.

Our 4 year anniversary

Today was our 4 year wedding anniversary. I feel so unbelievable blessed to have such a wonderful man in my life. I am truly lucky to be able to call such a wonderful man my husband. This year is a lot different from the years past considering we are thousands of miles apart and in 2 very different time zones. In fact the times zones have made it so we got to celebrate our anniversary for two days instead of just one.
I miss James so deeply and it makes special days like today tough. We get through them but I won't pretend they're easy. James and I truly celebrate our marriage every year together and make it a very special day. Being thousands of miles apart put a kink in things but didn't stop us from doing the best we could.
James sent me a beautiful arrangement of flowers and the most beautiful music box I've ever laid eyes on. I have tried to get a good picture but I am far from a photographer and used my phone as my camera so its not the best quality. My picture does not do it justice at all but you can click here to see a better picture of it. He put a lot of thought into this musical jewelry box and that makes my heart melt. The box is called an Anastasia Musical Keepsake box. For those of you that don't know Anastasia is my favorite movie and I still watch it all the time. He also had it engraved with this saying:
We are 365 days away
7,315 miles apart, But
We've never been so close.
I love you

I will get to cherish such a beautiful gift for the rest of my life. Priceless. My gorgeous flowers came with a beautiful card and of course tears filled my eyes when I read what it said. It read:
We are 7,315 miles apart and 365 days away. I never stop thinking about you. I never stop picturing your face. I never forget your sweet scent. I still taste you on my lips. I carry you in my heart every second.
Needless to say my husband is to good to me and incredibly sweet. I love you James and can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you. Happy Anniversary my love!

Food fight

My sweet darling perfect angels.
(Bet they fool you. They fool me daily)

Ha who am I kidding?! My girls are anything but what I just described. Mischievous, testing our limits, toddlers is a description that better suits them. Oh and lets add creators of mass destruction to that list while we're at it.

Today has been one of those days where they have tested their limits.
Example 1?
Aidyn thought it would be ok if she put her own movie in the playstation.

Helping right?

She thought she could do it all by herself while mom was busy. OH and of course two is better the one right? Not when it comes to DVD's in a Playstation 3.

2+1= 1 very frustrated mom

Needless to say I now how two DVD's stuck in our PS3 that I can't figure out how to get out. Lovely!

Example 2?
Food fight! Yep Food fight!

I have never been one of those crazy people that thought a massive food fight would be fun. So when I see one start breaking out at our dinner table I was less then pleased. One child would throw a handful of food at the other and back and forth it would go!  Hysterical laughing and loud squeals filled the house as I tried to walk away and count to 10.

Yeah I had one of those moments...

Came back in, told them thats not ok to do and started picking it all up.

I don't think I mentioned that dinner ended up clear across the room and landed on the playstation that I just mentioned has two dvd's lodged in it.

Yeah one of those days.
So don't let them fool you.
They may look like sweet darling perfect angels but they can be the complete opposite.

I love you girls! Even if you make me go completely insane at times!

Embroidered deployment pillow

As I was blog stalking some awesome blogs last night I came across a link for an embroidered geography pillow that was made as a wedding gift.
I loved the way it turned out and thought it was such a great idea I had to make one myself. This was my take on it.
 I LOVE it!
I found this awesome idea and tutorial here. I hope you guys like it and get inspired to make one yourself.
Thanks so much to Erin over at In between laundry for the wonderful idea!

ACU topiary

Remember this ugly thing that I got at the DI for a $5.00 that I was so excited about?

Well it went from that to this. I thought it was an improvement but still not what I wanted.
I took it down quick and stored it away until I could find the perfect thing to add to it.

After a few months of being forgotten I figured it out! I knew the perfect thing to add to it!
I pulled off all of the moss and pinned strips of James' ACUs to it and this is what it looks like:

I don't think it could of turned out any better!
I loved the look of ribbon topiaries but wanted something permanent so here is my take on a ribbon topiary!

Kisses from home canister

Here is the Kisses from home canister I made for James to have while he is deployed.
I've heard of these being used as a count down and thought we would try that for the girls.
The girls are to young to understand the count down but they're not to young to know that each chocolate kiss that they eat is used as a kiss from their daddy.
I loved the idea for the girls and decided to make one for James and this is what it looks like.

Its a bit plain for me but I didn't think he would want ribbons and flowers and girly embellishments on it so this is the end result.
I think it turned out pretty cute.
Now every time he eats a kiss he knows its from his girls back at home.
Its not the same as the real deal but it will have to do for now.

1st package received!

I'm so excited this morning!
Why you ask?
James received his very first package from us!!!!
So exciting!

Now I get to post how it looked and tell you what was in it!

I decided this one would have a few things in it that he liked at home.
(minus the lap top lap desk. That was for his birthday but doesn't fit inside a flat rate box so he got it early)
Here is the first flap

A picture from Aidyn
(I wanted to get the girls involved in decorating. They had a lot of fun)

A picture from Keelii

A letter from me
(each package he will receive will have a hand written letter from me explaining what is in there and why)

And this is what it looked like when it was ready to be shipped!

I forgot to take pictures of everything inside so I will just give a list.
We sent James/daddy:
A package of double stuffed Oreos
2 packages of jerky
(one from us and one from his mom)
2 boxes of popcorn
Packs of gum
(he said he ran out of gum today too so what perfect timing)
A empty scrapbooked canister
(this is to put chocolate kisses in. I will do a separate post about that)
A 3 ringed binder with plastic sleeves
(To put artwork and letters in from friends and family)
A pillow case with a picture of me and the girls
(I know! Can you believe it! For those of you that know Keelii this is a HUGE deal! This is her most prize possession. Even better then that? It was her idea!)
James ask for a shirt of mine so I included one
(I was lucky enough to have to perfect shirt to send him. He said it was the perfect choice and was really happy.  Long story short, he picked it out for me when we were sophomore's)
Last but not least the lap top desk
(but this was meant for his birthday)

I am very pleased to say he really liked it. I can't wait for him to get his other packages.

My whole heart is in Afghanistan

Tonight is one of the harder nights of this deployment.
There isn't a real reason for it other then my heart is just needs James around.
I am so incredibly blessed to get the chance to talk to him everyday so far. Not only do I get to skype him everyday but I get to skype him twice a day. Once in the morning and once at night.
I know how lucky I am to have that and it has helped the girls and I tremendously but it can never compare to having him home.
I always knew and appreciated everything he did around the house and with the girls and I tried to make it a point to tell him and let him know that I saw what he did and that I appreciated it but its the small things that make your heart ache and long for the one you love.
It's the watching him wake up and stroll out of the bedroom wrapped up in his blanket.
Simply sitting on the couch and knowing he is right there.
Never having to speak a word but always finding comfort in the expression on his face.
Watching him play with his girls.
(which by the way they still do. Aidyn loves to dance and run around for daddy. She makes sure he is always watching)
Rolling over in the middle of the night and being able to touch him.
Listening to him brush his teeth.
Plating up meals for him and the girls
(One of my favorite things to do)
Knowing that if I wanted him to he would go to the store with me whether he wanted to or not.
Washing his clothes and seeing his shoes in the shoe basket
Smelling his shampoo and body wash fill the air when he got out of the shower.
Buying snacks only he would eat.
(I miss seeing those in the cupboards)
These are the things you may notice when they are home but they are the things you long for the most when they are gone.
The list of small things that I miss could go on and on but I don't think I should embarrass him to much.

Today was a pretty good day. I had a little scare with my great grandma but other then that it was a pretty good day.
Not great.
Nothing spectacular happened.
Nothing terrible either.
All in all a pretty good day. So why is tonight so hard?
I got to skype James this morning and tonight.
Nothing different in that department.
I miss him more then words can describe every single day.
Yet tonight. Well tonight is just one of those heart ache nights.
It's not the first hard night and I know it is not going to be the last but right now its hard.
Right now I want him home.
Right now I need him home.
I need my rock, my best friend, my heart, my world, and the most important one my husband.
James you are my hero and I love you more with every passing day.
I can't wait to look back on this and know it is a distant memory.
I miss everything about you.

One tired princess

That walk to the post office must of wore this little princess out. I've never seen her bob like this and fall asleep sitting up so she must of been exhausted. Once I got the cute video I laid her down on the couch to continue her nap. I was not about to risk moving her and having her wake up. Now this is how she is sleeping. I thought it was to cute not to share.

A trip to the post office

Today we took a walk to the post office to mail daddy his 2nd package of his deployment. This one is really just from mommy but the girls like to think its from all of us so thats what I tell them. They think its so fun to send things to daddy since he is so far away. This package is actually one for mine and James' 4 year anniversary and has a few things I made him in it. I had to get creative on this project but I think I did pretty good. I can't wait for him to get it and the girls and I have some really fun things planned for his birthday box!I will post more on that next month after he receives it so it doesn't ruin the surprise.

Addicted to skirts!

Got skirts?
I am so in love with making these sweet little outfits for Keelii. I just cant seem to stop. The best part about them?

They are so cheap!
I mean like a couple dollars cheap!

My sweet Keelii loves to wear them almost just as much as I love to make them. She likes to ask me "Mommy did you make that for me?" I of course answer her with a very excited YES!
I love knowing that I was the one to make her an outfit that she loves to wear. All of her outfits are 100% unique and Keelii is the only one that has it.

Now how special is that?!

Here are a few of her outfits I've made her!
Minnie mouse outfit for Disney on Ice!
Owl outfit just because I couldn't stop making them!
And of course her Dr. Seuss themed outfit for Dr. Seuss' birthday!

Treasures for tots: Giveaway!

That's right! Treasures for tots is giving one of these awesome WOGGIE'S away!

I want this so bad for Keelii! Could you imagine how excited she would be to win this! Her iPhone is like her right hand man, so this would be perfect for her. Aidyn wouldn't be able to destroy it either! WIN WIN!

Keep your fingers crossed that we win this!

Keelii's peeing episodes!

Ok so just like my first post said I started this blog to show off my crafts and vent about my oldest daughter Keelii. This post is not a craft post but is for sure a Keelii post!

This will be a venting post at its best.

Today was a good day with Keelii. She was a good girl this morning and was able to go play with her aunt and uncle this morning. (Yesterday she was supposed to go over and play but decided to throw a HUGE fit! I mean HUGE when asked to get her shoes on so she got to stay home and take a nap instead of going to play) My husband and I went to pick her up from his mom's house and she had been a good girl when we picked her up and stopped to get something to eat on our way home. Once we got home we all gathered at the dinner table to eat. I gave Keelii some of my pasta that I had got and she started eating with no problem. As time went on she started to throw a fit (I'm still not sure why but she did not have a nap so I know that was part of the problem) and I calmly told her that she needed to calm down and finish eating so we could get her jammies on and get her to bed. Once she finished eating her dinner I asked her to get in her jammies and she told me no and said she wanted to sleep in her dress that she had on (She never keeps her jammies on anyway or any clothes for that matter) so I said that was fine and laid her in bed, turned on the movie she wanted to watch, shut her door and walked out just like every night.

Now Aidyn had been having a rough time tonight and wouldn't quit crying so I ended up just letting her cry for a while. After a while I went into their room to give Aidyn her binky (I need to make a pouch that attaches to her crib that has extra binkies) and laid her back down. Of course after I walked out of the room she started to scream all over again so I figured I would go back in and check on her in a little while if she hadn't calmed down. Once I realized she wasn't going to calm down I walked back into their room and picked her up, gave her the binky and thats when it hit me! Keelii had once again peed in her room!

Now let me tell you Keelii is completely potty trained! She wears big girl underwear all day everyday and never has accidents at night. So WHY did she pee in her room?! I am so frustrated and I have no idea what to do anymore. Oh and did I mention that I had washed all of the girls' bedding today and put it back on their beds? Well I did and guess what she decided to clean up to pee with?! Her bedding that I just washed! Lovely!

James and I have brainstormed why she would do this and I have asked everyone I know what they think would be going on. Most of them told me it was attention but I don't think it is an attention getter. She gets plenty of attention at home and we even make sure we have one on one time with just her, mommy, and daddy. We have taken the tv out of her room and that has helped for a while. (This is not our first rodeo with her. It used to be worse. She used to poop in her room and her barbie house that we build her) She knows how to earn her tv back and when she is earning it back she never has a peeing episode. Well the last time we took it away she still had one or two peeing episodes so we figured that wasn't working anymore so we put the tv back in her room. Needless to say the tv is gone again and will not be going back in for a VERY long time if at all.

What do I do now?! James and I are both out of ideas of why she is doing this and what we can do about it. I am at my wits end and don't know how to deal with this anymore. Any suggestions would be nice.

I've tried everything. I've tried talking and explaining it to her and she tells me she knows that its not ok. So why does she keep doing it? She won't pee on a hard surface (or house has hard wood floors throughout the whole thing) it has to be on her rug or the carpet in her barbie house or fabric of any kind it seems. I've tried taking away her tv, I've tried giving treats and everything else. I just don't get it.

Tomorrow is a new day and hopefully I will figure something creative out but we will see.

Topiary make over

I have been eyeballing topiaries for quite sometime now but I REALLY did not want to pay the outrages price for them. I knew I was going to have to make one instead. I went to hobby lobby to get all of the supplies to recreate the topiaries that I love so much and when I started looking and totaling up the price it was considerably less to just make my own. Great news right! Sure but I knew I could still get a better deal in time.

So today I went to the DI (local thrift shop). I didn't have anything in mind when I went. Much like normal. I never know what I'm going to look for but I always come out with something good! Today was no different!

I found my TOPIARY!

Not only did I find a topiary with awesome bones to it but it was a whopping $3.00! Can you believe it! I was so excited I couldn't wait to get home and start taking it apart and making it mine!
Now it wasn't the cutest but it wasn't that bad either. I just really don't like the glossy, fake, plastic look that it had so on my way home I made a pit stop at walmart to pick up a bag of moss ($2.00) and made my way home.

I tore all of the old plastic greenery off and started to hot glue the moss on. It took me a whole 10 minutes or so from start to finish and I LOVE the outcome.
If I were to do this will of of the supplies that I was going to get at hobby lobby I could of walked out spending a good $20.00 or so but I ended up only spending $5.00!
Now that is a bargain!

How I bought it from the DI

After I tore all the plastic stuff off and added the moss!

I love it!
Now to make something for the other side of my shelf. Its just not doing it for me. I need something just as awesome as my topiary to do it justice!

Sippy cup leash

Do you get sick of playing the lovely game of mommy will pick it up when I throw it?

When I had Keelii I just learned to deal with it. I mean what can you do when they drop or throw something? You pick it up right? I learned to teach her if she threw something then she wouldn't get it back and that was the end of it. Now that I have Aidyn and Keelii its twice the sippy cups that are being thrown or dropped that gets old FAST! I do understand that sometimes it is an accident SO I made them both a sippy cup leash!
YAY! No more picking up sippy cups for me!

(A piece of ribbon and a small piece of elastic was all it took)

Aidyn will now show you how it works!

Keelii sits up front and her's is hanging over the edge in this picture

I looped it on their seatbelt straps and can also be used on a carseat!
Aidyn can now get her own sippy cup when it falls!
Its the simple things in life that makes a mom happy!

A Seuss-tastic day

Today was Dr. Seuss' birthday and we made sure we celebrated at our house!

Keelii was the hit of the preschool in her cat in the hat outfit I made for her.
Her Horton hears a who clovers were a huge hit with the kids!

Once I picked her up we came home to enjoy a Thing 1 and Thing 2 cupcake.
I had so much fun making them while Keelii was at school.
(What a fun surprise for her to come home to)

When dinner rolled around of course we had to have green eggs and ham and I made pink lemonade for our Pink Yink Ink Drink (in one fish two fish red fish blue fish)
It was such a fun day and we were sad to say good bye but in the words of Dr. Seuss:
Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened.

I hope you all had a fun day!

Suess inspirational work treats

As you all know I've been pretty excited for Dr. Seuss' birthday this week.
(A little over the top some might say but it is fun for both my girls and I so why not right?!)

Well my mom got inspired to share something with all of her employees for Dr. Seuss' birthday after hearing that I was making treats for Keelii's classmates.
(when I say she got inspired that really means she got inspired to get me inspired to come up with something fun)

Story of my life!
love you mom!

After talking to her and finding out what way she wanted to go and what book she wanted to base her treats off of we came up with this.

Oh the places you'll go treat bags!

I downloaded a free Dr. Seuss font and typed up the last few lines from the book and threw it all together with some scrapbook paper and treat bags.
I made 50 of these babies! Can't wait to hear what everyone thought!

To go along with her treat bags that I made she is going to read
'Oh the places you'll go'
to inspire her employees to keep up with the great work they do.

I hope you have fun tomorrow mom! Love you!

Horton hears a who clover

I've been so excited to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday with my girls. All week I've been deciding on what I want to do with them to celebrate this fun day!
I will post everything we did on wednesday but for now I want to show you what Keelii and I made for her to share with her classmates.

Horton hears a who clovers!

Here is what we used:
(Minus the hot glue gun)

And here is how it looks when your done!
How fun and cute are these?! Keelii is so excited to share them with her class!
