Horton hears a who clover

I've been so excited to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday with my girls. All week I've been deciding on what I want to do with them to celebrate this fun day!
I will post everything we did on wednesday but for now I want to show you what Keelii and I made for her to share with her classmates.

Horton hears a who clovers!

Here is what we used:
(Minus the hot glue gun)

And here is how it looks when your done!
How fun and cute are these?! Keelii is so excited to share them with her class!

Preschool tote bag revamp

As most of you know Keelii is my busy child and can not just sit and relax so after the barbie house incident we decided that preschool would be great for her. It helps get all of her energy out, helps her with her social skills, and she gets a good break from her mommy.

She is in the 3's class because she is completely potty trained but that
doesn't mean she wont pee in her room daily just to get under my skin.

In preschool they ask to have an extra pair of clothes just incase of accidents and a sheet for nap time. So we took everything in a canvas tote bag to hang in her cubby and it was ok but knowing me it wasn't good enough.
(We all know 2 year olds care a great deal about what a tote bag looks like.)

Who am I kidding? We all know I am just a craftaholic who needs to amp up everything that I own.

On friday I brought home Keelii's tote bag to switch out her spare clothes (growth spurt is on the rise) and wash her sheet. So what a perfect time to spruce up a plain ol' canvas tote.

And here it is:

Simple but cute! (Well I think so)
I drew up a couple of super simple bird appliques, ironed them on,
Embroidered around them and added a polkadot bow on the handel and WA LA
a cute new canvas tote for preschool!

Its a big hit with Keelii! She came up to me and said "MOM IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL!"
I love when she gives me her stamp of approval!

Keelii's busy book

Well I've started Keelii's busy book and I'm so excited! I will of course be adding more pages as time goes on but for now its a good start. A lot of my friends have never heard of a busy book so here it is for all of you who asked me what it is.

I've seen busy books that are sew, in binders, and on rings. I decided that it would be best for us to keep in in a hard 3 ring binder.

Now I've been wanting to make Keelii and eye spy bag for quite some time now and just haven't gotten around to sewing it. Well I got thinking about the busy book I decided that an eye spy bag would be perfect but how was I going to add it to the binder? Then it dawned on me while I was walking through the dollar store the other day that the pencil pouches for binders would be PERFECT! So I threw one in the cart along with a cheap bag of rice and a few nicnacs (great way to use up all of those small cheap toys you have laying around the house) Once I got home I put everything in the pouch zipped it closed and then it came to me. Yeah thats going to stay closed. Ha who was I kidding right?! This wouldn't last one second in Keelii's hands without getting poured all over the floor. So my solution you ask? First I hot glued the zipper closed and thought it looked terrible so I turned to my handy dandy E6000! Yep much better! I added a list of everything in the bag and had it laminated so it would last.

Here are a few of the pages that I made for her busy book. Every page has a poem on the front page that goes along with the activity on the back. I kept it pretty simple and didn't scrapbook the pages. I could of spent hours on it but I figured Keelii wouldn't care so simple it is. I added velcro to everything for easy play and storage. Lets hope this is a big hit with her and with help me keep my sanity!

And so it begins

Facts about me:
My name is Michele
I am married to a wonderful guy (James)
I have two girls (Keelii 2 & Aidyn 1)
I LOVE to craft
and I love blogs!

I started this blog for a few reasons.
Reason #1:
Now even though my wonderful husband is such a good sport about my craft disorder I'm sure he gets sick of listening to me rant on about the newest project that I HAVE to do every 2 minutes and how I can make something new to help our oldest daughters behavior improve.

Reason #2:
Keelii is almost 3 and knows exactly what not to do but of course that is the first thing she decides to do and BOY do I have stories. Ask anyone I know and they will be the first to tell you that my sweet little Keelii has a way of getting... well lets just say she knows how to make me see red. She is a VERY busy 2 year old. She needs to be doing something all the time whether that is dancing around the house in a beautiful dress or flushing a whole roll of toilet paper down the toilet (typical 2 year old behavior you say) well how about the stuff like pooping in her barbie house that I spent countless nights working on? (That is just the beginning of that story) Now while she is a very naughty little girl at times she is also one of the sweetest little girls you will ever meet and she can melt your heart with just one look.

Reason #3:
James is deploying soon and I will need an outlet for all of the craziness that goes on in the house for a whole year while he is gone. So blogging about crafts and the newest Keelii news is just the thing to keep me sane right?

Now that I have told you about why I am starting this blog I should take the time out and let you get to know the other member of our family. Aidyn is 1 and she is the sweetest most sensitive baby girl. She had a rough start when she was born and has acid reflux along with colic. Poor thing was miserable for such a long time. We often say she is so sweet now because she had such a rough start. Aidyn is the type that crawls right up to you and wants to snuggle you and stay close to you forever. She is my angel baby. I most definitely have a little angel and a little devil running around my house.
